We spent the August long weekend camping in Jasper, AB. After spending a chilly night in the tent at the campground, we decided to go for a hike at Maligne Lake. The lady at the information centre said it was a hike of moderate difficulty and usually takes three to four hours. We weren’t looking for a walk in the park but we didn’t want to be out-of-commission recovering for the next week.
The hike was up a gradually sloped mountain where, at the top, there was a nice reward for all your effort: the view of glacier blue Maligne Lake. After getting down from the mountain, we decided to go for a swim to loosen up the muscles. In the end, I couldn’t bear the cold (only because of my thin desert blood), but it was nice to wade in and soak the legs.
On the quick drive back to Jasper the countryside continued to amaze us. We periodically stopped to ooh and aah at the scenery. The sight that stuck with me as my favourite of the trip was the picture of the mountain with its reflection in the lake. Prints are now on-sale, order upon request in the comments 😉
